As early as 1900, Milliken was reusing packaging and textile materials in our operations and documented our first recycling policy. By the late 1900's Milliken developed a comprehensive plan to eliminate waste, increase product performance and preserve
resources — years before the first clean air and water acts and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency were formed. By 1960, we had established a more formal environmental policy to reduce our impact on the environment. This stewardship still
guides our daily choices and influences innovations in product design, raw material selection, manufacturing operations and marketing and merchandising materials.
Sustainability is at the core of Milliken’s philosophy to ‘do good’ for the world. We believe that a healthy enterprise and a healthy earth are vitally linked, and we hold ourselves accountable to the highest ethical standards. We derive greatest satisfaction from the development of products and services that make a positive impact on the world.
Our innovation process is centered on ‘doing good’, creating products and services that add value to people’s daily lives, improve health and safety and help to make the world more sustainable.
We have made great progress toward achieving our goals to reduce our environmental footprint but the journey to sustainability is constantly evolving. We continually challenge ourselves not only to improve, but also to be transparent and fully accountable to all our stakeholders and communities.
